Painting
is enormous. Like all creation. It is a vast mountain of the unknown.
“Each time I undertake a new canvas, I want to put everything there:
lines, works, colors, and solid planes that spontaneously grab all the
space. At that moment thousands of roads open before my eyes.I wish to
go further, to suspend myself in these infinitely transmutable forms,
to this beginning light with these nights and days mingled as in memory.
Sometimes beings appear, men, women or animals; they make a place for
themselves in the canvas. I make a place for them; I make plants grow
on a flat ochre patch, skim the light from another, and, little by little,
the space around them and through them articulates itself, defines itself,
yet within it float some remains of chance, some pockets of incoherence;
these are so that one won’t forget the mystery on which everything
rests.”
The artist
Ansatu
arrived to Provence in 1965, at the age of 1 year Studies of
Graphic art in Paris before settling definitively with
Vaison-la-Romaine.
Voyages, a true inspiring passion of her painting :
In 1994 she leaves for a 16 month tour to Polynesia at the
court of which she sells her paintings and drafts in order
to continue her voyage,
she repeats in 1987, with bicycle this time, from France to
Nairobi (in Kenya),
In 1999, on the traces of Delacroix, with foot in the
Moroccan Atlas,
During the winter 2001, in Zanscar, by foot on the frozen
river.
These
voyages gave her the taste of the graphic interpretation of
the places and of atmospheres met.
She brings back from there notebooks filled with sketch,
landscapes and portraits.
In 1990, she exposes for the first time to the Chema Gallery in Vaison-la-Romaine, and opens a workshop exposure in the Médiévale city.
